"Tube troubles"
I had planned to camp in the woods this evening, then make it to Sully sur Loire the next day, where I would pick up the Loire bicycle route. Deviated from charted course to get a replacement tube in Sens. Left Sens at around 7pm after getting tube at Intersport and shopping at Leader Price for some dinner groceries - both stores were just off the main highway going through Sens. Went as far as I could through the rolling hills of the farm-speckled countryside before dark, nearly reaching Egriselles. As it was getting dark, I started to look for a large and dense enough wooded area in which to pitch my tent. I finally found a dirt bike trail through some woods that skirted the road, explored it, and camped in the woods between it and the road. I think it may have been possible to see my tent from the road if you knew where to look. The woods were not really thick, only going a hundred yards or so then clearing out into somebody's farm, with houses in the distance. I heard voices and motors, either from motorbikes or chainsaws, but they must have been from across the field. Quite paranoid of being discovered. I ate my dinner while sitting in my tent.
